SUNDAYS! ALWAYS A RUSH.
This morning was no exception. The familiar chaos of getting ready for church filled the air. I could hear one of my boys yelling from downstairs, "Who took my shoes?" In my head, I quipped back, "It's up my nose!" | almost let that sarcastic African humor slip out, but I held back.
Finally, we got into the car, ready to go but just as I was about to pull away, it struck me: where was the mobile mic for today's recording? I remembered bringing it to the car, but now it is gone. As I drove, I mentally combed through the entire vehicle, retracing my steps. I even instinctively felt my pockets—the way you do when you can't find your phone. Nothing. My wife noticed I was unsettled. "What's going on?" she asked. I didn't answer, focused on my search. "Are you looking for something?" she pressed. With a sigh, I finally admitted, "Yes, l'm searching for the mic for recording." "Have you checked the chair you're sitting on? Maybe between your legs?" she suggested. "It can't be there. I wouldn't put it there." "Just check, anyway. That's where you usually put things while driving," she insisted. Reluctantly, I did-and there it was! I couldn't believe it. How did she know me so well, perhaps even better than I know myself? For days, that incident lingered in my mind. It's good to know someone understands you deeply. And then it hit me like a light bulb moment: there is Someone who knows me even more intimately.
The first time God didn't want to leave man by himself, he got a woman. The second time - Jesus said I will not leave you as orphans - He sent the comforter. The Holyspirit. As much as I felt grateful for my wife's insight, I was overwhelmed with thankfulness for the Holy Spirit. He knows me enough to help me in prayer, comfort me, teach me, reveal things to me, help me witness about the life of God in me, and much more. Just think about that-there's a divine partner sent from heaven who knows you inside and out!
Thank you Father for the Holy Spirit. Say it!
